I was delighted to see the success of Labour across Manchester and the UK during the local elections. In Manchester Gorton, we held all of our seats with more than 75% of the vote across the constituency. In three wards – Longsight, Rusholme, and Moss Side – we achieved more than 80% of the vote.
I’d like to offer my congratulations to every candidate who was elected and a thank you to every campaigner for their hard work and dedication to the campaign. We will always work hard to achieve great things for our area and challenge this out-of-touch Tory government. With gains across our country, these local elections are a turning point for Labour and I am optimistic for the future.
